Rancho Mission Viejo residents get taste of rodeo ahead of weekend event

RANCHO MISSION VIEJO – Residents in this new planned community got a taste of rodeo and learned about the ranching heritage of the land Thursday morning.

About 75 Sendero residents who signed up for the Rodeo 101 crash course had a chance to see bulls, cows and horses up close and roping demonstrations at Cow Camp, the heart of the Rancho Mission Viejo Co.’s ranching and farming operation. Real-life cowboys also explained to participants the art of rodeo and how judges keep score to prepare them for the Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo this weekend.

The 15th annual event Saturday and Sunday at Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park in San Juan Capistrano will feature the top 30 contenders in the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association. For more information, go to rmvrodeo.com.
